My Background
For nearly three decades, I have worked in higher education as an admissions officer. I have been the decision maker on applicants at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. And, for both domestic and international students. My most recent position was with the University of Notre Dame as Director of Admissions - Operations and Management for undergraduate admissions. This experience gives me a unique perspective on helping students best prepare themselves and their applications for success in a highly competitive environment.
I have also been involved in the recruitment of student athletes. While at the University of Notre Dame, I handled 11 sports, resulting in two National Championships, four Individual National Champions, and five Olympians (2020). During my tenure, I also helped to recruit 36 All-Americans, five ACC Student-Athlete of the Year awards, 37 ACC All-Academic Team awards, along with the highest GPA among all University of Notre Dame athletic teams. Recently, Lee Kiefer and Nick Itkin (former Notre Dame fencers) won Gold and Bronze medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics!
I know the ins and outs of the application process at top-tier universities and what it takes to gain a competitive advantage.
A bit about my family - My wife Kelly (the best thing to ever happen to me!), and I have been married for 36 years, and we have four great children. Kelly teaches Kindergarten in Granger, IN. Emily, a 2014 Notre Dame grad, is our eldest, and she works in healthcare consulting for Mercer in Dallas, TX, but lives in Quebec, Canada, with her husband and three children. Meghan, a 2015 Notre Dame grad and 2017 Northwestern grad, is next. She is an elementary school teacher by training, but is currently a stay-at-home mom with her four children. Meghan’s husband, Alex Jones (Notre Dame ‘15), graduated from Stanford University with his MBA and created a really cool prayer and meditation app called Hallow. My son, Nicholas, is a 2019 Notre Dame graduate and has recently earned his Ph.D. in Theoretical Mathematics from Northwestern University. (I know…) He is currently a professor at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. And finally, sweet Caroline. The only one of our children who graduated from college early (that’s why she’s our favorite…), Caroline earned her Advertising degree from Michigan State University a full semester early. She works for Willis Towers Watson as a Lead Associate and resides in Grapevine, TX.
On a more personal note, I have always felt great whenever I have helped someone. So, this is a selfish endeavor!
